    Ashwell Archaeology

Mission: Uncovering the hidden past of our village
    Ashwell, Hertfordshire, UK

We are a group of enthusiasts of all ages and from all backgrounds, some professional archaeologists and most not. Families with children are most welcome. The history beneath our feet is fascinating and we have great fun uncovering it. From field walks to digging pits, educational talks to finds sorting, we have a series of events running through the year. We discover finds from every period of human occupation of Ashwell including prehistoric, Iron Age, Saxon, Roman and Medieval to the present day.

It seeks to achieve this by running novel, fun and challenging activities for members of the public, including school pupils, to develop new skills and confidence; raise their educational aspirations, boost their academic performance; enjoy learning for the love of it; take part in new archaeological excavations and make new discoveries about themselves and the world around them.

    Sarah Talks

    Founder
As a fourth generation Ashwellian, her family must have been responsible for a fair amount of the finds we now dig up. And it's amazing what people have left behind over the ages. She is a Friend of Ashwell Museum and teaches at the Primary School; but as an archaeology graduate from Durham University, there's no bones about it, Sarah really digs archaeology.
